Hera is a cutie – there’s no way around it, with those liquid brown eyes, I knew from the start that this family photo shoot in Pretoria was going to be very special. Then comes Kayla, with her beautiful honey-golden locks and enthusiastic smile who couldn’t refuse the opportunity to pose as often as she could in front of my lens. Debbie had asked me to do a family photo shoot in Pretoria for them two months ago and we settled on Mooikloof Nature Reserve as the best location. And what a gorgeous afternoon in golden sunlight!
Take two doting grandparents, throw in a young couple in love and two little girls who love people and you’ve got the recipe for a great photo shoot. Charle and Hugo stole a few kisses when Kayla wasn’t stealing the limelight with her cute poses. And Hera was determined that I needed to be part of the family shots, leading me by the finger to come and sit with them. Debbie and Van Zyl rounded off the shoot with a few tender moments in front of a lovely sunset. With the last of the swallows circling overhead as summer drew to a close and the rustling grass turning a beautiful russet brown, the shots became more and more beautiful as the afternoon wore on.
And there’s something very special about this family, a really beautiful story which I can’t wait to tell you. But you’re going to have to wait to see the full shoot up on the website to hear the whole back story to this family photo shoot in Pretoria. (Teaser, much?)
